For NZ organisations with 50+ staff and an internal IT team

Your internal IT team is great at the work you hired them for. The other 40% of their week is the part you didn’t.

Patching, after-hours helpdesk, audit prep, vendor management, the backlog of projects that never quite gets finished. We don’t replace your team. We sit alongside them, take the routine work off their plate, and back them up when something bigger lands.

What co-managed actually means

Here is the version of co-managed most internal IT teams have been burned by.

A provider says they’ll “support” your team. What that means in practice is a ticketing queue, an offshore helpdesk, and a phone call that gets returned three hours later. Your team is still doing the patching, still chasing the printer, still waking up for after-hours incidents. The invoice goes up. The pressure on your people does not.

That is not co-managed. That is outsourced with extra steps.

The version that works is the opposite. Your internal team owns the roadmap, the strategic projects, and the relationship with the business. We pick up the routine, the helpdesk overflow, the after-hours coverage, the audit and compliance work, and the specialist projects your team doesn’t have time for. Your people get to focus on the work only they can do. When something big lands, they have a second team behind them.

That is the gap our Co-Managed IT Readiness Audit closes. We look at where your team is spending their time, where the gaps are, and where we can take work off their plate without anyone losing control.

What your internal team gets back

1. Their week back.

Patching, monitoring, after-hours helpdesk, vendor escalations, ticket triage. The work that fills calendars and never gets to a strategic project. We take it.

2. Specialist depth on tap.

Cyber security, compliance, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud. The projects where one or two generalists don’t have the time to be experts. We have the specialists, ready when the work is ready.

3. After-hours and incident cover.

A second team behind your team when something goes wrong after 5pm, on a weekend, or during a board week. Real humans, NZ-based, picking up fast. Not an answering service.

What the co-managed model looks like

Service desk as a service.

First-line and second-line support overflow for your internal team, with a NZ-based helpdesk that picks up the phone in under 11 seconds.

Proactive IT management.

Patching, monitoring, regular reviews, best-practice implementation. The work that keeps the lights on, taken off your team’s plate.

Cyber security and vCSO.

Advanced security, audits, virtual Chief Security Officer cover, and the documentation your insurer and your auditors actually want to see.

Project and specialist cover.

Cloud migrations, infrastructure projects, Microsoft 365 work, compliance projects. The work that needs specialists, delivered by specialists.

We work alongside internal IT teams at 50-staff firms running lean, and at 120-staff organisations with established IT functions.

In their words

…As a Practice Manager of a busy law firm, I can’t afford to take time to deal with the technical problems, so working with OxygenIT is a HUGE time saver for us. Allowing our lawyers and other employees to work remotely has been a game-changer.

With the move of our data from an onsite server to the cloud, we were able to consolidate our four branches into one easy database and OxygenIT made this all possible. We were looking to expand our business by opening another branch, OxygenIT made it simple and easy to add our new branch to the database.

What the Co-Managed IT Readiness Audit covers

This is not a generic “let’s talk about your IT” call. We look at where your internal team’s time is going, where the gaps are, and what co-managed would actually change for them.

What we look at:

  • How your internal team’s week is currently spent, and where the biggest time sinks are
  • The helpdesk load and after-hours incidents over the last 90 days
  • Cyber security posture: the controls insurers and auditors actually ask about
  • The project backlog, and what would unblock it
  • Where co-managed support would change the picture, and where it wouldn’t

What you get:

  • A clear written picture of where your team is overloaded
  • A proposed split: what OxygenIT would pick up, what stays with your team
  • A fixed monthly price for the co-managed layer, based on the audit’s findings
The Co-Managed IT Readiness Audit is from $3,750 for organisations of 50 staff. The audit fee is credited against the first month of co-managed engagement if you go ahead.

Straight answers.

What’s the minimum size you work with for co-managed?
We work with organisations from 50 staff up. Below that, a fully managed IT arrangement usually makes more sense.
Do you replace our internal team?
No. Your team owns the roadmap and the relationship with the business. We supplement them, take the routine work off their plate, and back them up on specialist projects and after-hours cover.
How is co-managed different from managed IT?
Managed IT is fully outsourced. Co-managed means your team stays in place, and we work alongside them. You keep your internal capability, your vendor relationships, and your roadmap ownership. We add capacity, specialist depth, and after-hours cover.
Do you only work with Christchurch firms?
No. We’re NZ-wide, with offices in Christchurch and Wellington and an engineer in Auckland. Most of what we do is delivered remotely, with on-site work where it’s needed.
What does the audit cost?
The Co-Managed IT Readiness Audit starts from $3,750 for organisations of 50 staff. The exact price depends on the size and complexity of your environment, and we confirm it on the call before any work starts.
What happens after the audit?
You get a written picture of where your team is overloaded and a proposed split. If you want to go ahead, the audit fee is credited against your first month. If you don’t, you’ll still have a clear document you can use to plan internally or take to another provider.
How is OxygenIT different from other IT companies?
We publish our numbers. Phones answered in under 11 seconds, a 15 minute response guarantee on P1 critical issues, 98% client retention across our Canterbury clients from 2022 to 2025, and ISO 27001 plus ISO 42001 certification audited independently every year. Few NZ providers publish even one of those.
