How OxygenIT started: from solo consultancy to multi-office MSP
OxygenIT was founded in Christchurch in 2005 by Timothy Clarkson on his return to New Zealand after working in IT in the United Kingdom.
The original mission was to bring the structured, enterprise-grade IT service models he had seen overseas to New Zealand small and medium businesses, which at the time were largely served by reactive, break-fix providers.
Tim ran OxygenIT as a solo consultancy for the first few years before making the first technical hire. Today he holds the Managing Director role and continues to personally take introductory calls with prospective clients.
OxygenIT has since grown into a 9-person team operating from offices in Christchurch and Wellington, with an engineer based in Auckland. The team supports businesses with 10 to 200 staff across professional services, healthcare, construction, and manufacturing.

OxygenIT team is structured around four functions: client strategy and security advisory, day-to-day service delivery, technical engineering, and business operations. All staff are based in New Zealand.
Timothy Clarkson
Managing Director
Tim founded OxygenIT in Christchurch in 2005. He still personally takes intro calls with prospective clients and leads OxygenIT’s ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification programmes.
Paul Curtis
Fractional Chief Security Officer (vCSO)
Paul leads OxygenIT’s Managed Cyber Security service and acts as vCSO for clients in regulated industries holds CISSP and PMP.
